Chapter 13: Weekend Family Activities
Bai Ningning, who usually only focused on eating, also curiously looked up: “Legal department? But junior, you’re not studying law, right?”
“No, I just think it’s interesting,” Qin Xin casually replied, “And it’s just a part-time job, not a permanent position.”
“Then you might as well come to our department,” Bai Ningning said, “Our department has good benefits.”
There are many beautiful girls, and Bai Ningning, as a superior, occasionally shares color illustrations with everyone.
“No thanks, the senior’s department is doing serious work, and they’ve been at it for a while,” Qin Xin said, “If I go now, I won’t be able to help much.”
Actually, she had considered whether to go to the game department, but after thinking it through, she realized there were no suitable positions left.
The department head is Bai Ningning, the contact person with the company is Li Yue, and in between is Si Youxue as an assistant. The people below are all technical staff with dedicated jobs.
Qin Xin couldn’t draw, nor could she do modeling, and she was even worse at things like software engineering and coding. After joining, she wouldn’t be able find a role for herself at all. And although being part of it seemed to bring her closer to her Bai Ningning, it didn’t actually allow her to be of any real help.
Qin Xin joined halfway through… or rather, cut in partway, which already put her at a natural disadvantage. If she wanted to overtake others on a curve, she had to elevate her own status.
The legal department is the best choice.
“Alright then,” Qin Yue didn’t mind, “As long as you like it.”
In the afternoon, Qin’s mom specifically called her, saying that her younger sister was going to work part-time at the company, and her personal preference was the legal department. See if you can arrange that for her. Also, don’t forget—that’s your biological sister, blood is thicker than water, so emotionally and logically, you should look out for her.
Qin Yue certainly had no objections; if she wants to come, let her come, it’s not a big deal.
“By the way,” Bai Ningning suddenly remembered something, “Junior Qin Xin, are we going to team up this week?”
“Yeah,” Qin Xin nodded, “Sure.”
That was originally her plan.
But Qin Xin didn’t expect that after Bai Ningning finished talking to her, she turned to Qin Yue: “Yueyue, you can play together this week, right?”
“Big sister plays too?” Qin Xin secretly twitched her mouth, “When did you get into it?”
She never expected that her carefully laid plans would be interrupted by her sister.
“I’ll play, but I can only play half a day on Saturday,” Qin Yue sighed, “I have no time at all on Sunday.”
Oh, that’s fine, Qin Xin breathed a sigh of relief.
Bai Ningning was surprised: “You don’t have weekends off anymore?”
“There was never a concept of weekends off,” Qin Yue put down her chopsticks and leaned back in her chair, “When there’s work, I have to be busy any day; when there’s no work, I can take a day off any day.”
“Alright then, half a day is half a day,” Bai Ningning casually said, So on Sunday, it will just be me and the junior playing.”
Qin Xin’s heart skipped a beat, feeling inexplicably guilty. She was already feeling guilty, and hearing this made her instinctively tense up.
The senior’s words were too ambiguous, and why did she have to emphasize “The two of us”? Big sister will definitely sense something’s off, and if she follows that line of thought…
“Mm, you two have fun on Sunday,” Qin Yue sighed softly, “I can only take half a day off on Saturday.”
She wouldn’t be around on the weekend, so her girlfriend could only hang out with her little sister. The sister was straight—nothing to worry about.
Qin Xin relaxed, but for a moment, she was filled with mixed emotions.
This heavy, weighty trust— did indeed bring her a lot of convenience in daily life. But Qin Xin knew, this was exactly why she didn’t dare to rebel alone. Trust, ah, truly is a double-edged sword.
After dinner, she drinks nutritional powder, watches TV, takes a shower, and goes to bed. The best user of a double-edged sword, Qin Yue, the president of the Qin family group, has spent another ordinary yet warm day.
And then, the weekend arrived.
On Saturday morning, Qin Yue still had to go to the company for a meeting and could only return at noon to enjoy a rare half-day off.
Qin Xin got up early, planning to take advantage of her sister being out to chat with Ningning for half the day, as a warm-up for their “just the two of them” time tomorrow. But she waited and waited in the living room, and ended up waiting all the way until nearly noon, when Bai Ningning finally came out of the bedroom, yawning.
Qin Xin twitched her mouth: “Ningning, did you… have a confrontation with my sister last night?”
It took Bai Ningning a few seconds to realize what she was talking about: “Nope, your sister refused to pay the ‘food tribute.’”
These past few days, after showering, she would change into that swimsuit, hoping to show it to Qin Yue. But before she even stepped into the room, Qin Yue had already shut her eyes tightly.
She even urged her to turn off the lights and go to bed quickly, saying that going to bed early and getting up early is good for health.
Hearing her say this, Qin Xin was even more puzzled: “Since you didn’t… why did you just get up now?”
“Because I didn’t do anything last night and felt super bored, I started reading a novel. I ended up getting totally hooked without realizing it, and read for a really long time,” Bai Ningning yawned, “When I woke up this morning, I still felt half-asleep, so I just stayed in bed reading until now.”
Qin Xin’s mouth twitched, and she was left speechless.
Now it was too late for anything; before long, the owner of Shuiyue Tingyuan returned.
Having only worked half a day today, Qin Yue was not as tired as usual; on the contrary, she seemed quite energetic.
After the three of them finished dinner, Qin Yue was the first to ask: “Where are we going to play that game?”
Just as Qin Xin was about to speak, Bai Ningning blurted out without thinking: “In the junior’s room, we agreed on it last week.”
Qin Xin’s heart skipped a beat; you would think that specifying the play location in her own room would raise some red flags for anyone with a bit of caution.
But Qin Yue just nodded: “Just right, our room is not convenient, so let’s use Qin Xin’s room.”
“…….”
Qin Xin didn’t know that her sister was indeed telling the truth because, aside from the bed, many places in the master bedroom were occupied by “functional items.”
Either it was cosplay costumes that provided psychological support, or real auxiliary tools led by electric energy. Not only did they take up space, but if they accidentally got pulled out and her sister saw them, it would also be embarrassing for her.
Well, just think about it; if she used these things and still couldn’t win, that would be quite embarrassing.
“Then let’s go,” Qin Xin said, “We can go right now.”
Her room was always clean and tidy, needing no tidying up, and there were no items like “Senior’s intimate clothing” or “Senior’s private photos” that absolutely couldn’t be seen by her sister.
Well, the former she hadn’t had time to acquire, and the latter was… saved on her phone.
What year is it now? Phone images are safe and convenient; who still uses traditional photos?
Qin Yue and Bai Ningning each brought their own gaming laptops over, and Qin Xin specially cleared a long computer desk, placing it against the wall. With three laptops set up there, it had quite a bit of a net café vibe.
